Road closures

At all start and finish locations of the South Australian regional stages of the Santos Tour Down Under (Stages 1 to 5), the roads will be closed and detour signs will be in place.

Santos Tour Down Under 2014

A rolling road closure system will be in place for the remainder of the race routes on Stages 1 to 5. This means the police will temporarily close roads for up to 20 minutes to allow the race to pass by.

Once a road has been closed by the police, the riders usually take between 15 to 20 minutes to pass by. After the race convoy, the Green Light Vehicle and the final police escort have passed, the road will open again.

South Australia Police implement rolling road closures to ensure the safety of the riders and to minimise disruption to the public.

Santos Tour Down Under implements fully closed roads for the Down Under Classic and Be Safe Be Seen MAC Stage 6 race circuits.

Details on road closures for the 2016 event will be available later in the year.
