Every January, Adelaide buzzes with all things cycling, from recreational rides, local club racing and street parties, to the Legends' Night Dinner and more.

Attracting people from across Australia and around the globe, Santos Festival of Cycling calendar is growing every year and is sure to excite in 2012.

There's a choice of routes to cater for a variety of ages, abilities and riding experience.

See the UCI ProTeams presented to the public for the first time, prior to the start of the Down Under Classic. Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen will interview riders onstage, where they will also sign on for the Classic.

After an opening day of action head to the Super Dome, Gepps Cross, north of Adelaide to witness racing at an intense pace featuring some of the country’s future stars of cycling. Supported by the Santos Tour Down Under and GreenEDGE Cycling Team the aim is to provide competition for juniors, help them make the transition to elite racing and ensure the long-term future of track cycling within Australia and the growth of our high performance talent base.

The international performers of the locally based Unley Marching Band will entertain spectators on track. Just a stone’s throw from the Adelaide City Council Tour Village! Cafes and eateries along King William Road in Hyde Park provide a relaxing breakfast on the street before securing a prime position to see the riders take off on Stage 3 of the tour.

The Parade, Norwood will host the Bupa Challenge Tour main start location with thousands of amateur cyclists taking part in the race of a lifetime! Come down and show your support, and stay to watch the pro riders set off!  Come down and take in the atmosphere and enjoy coffee or brunch at one of the many cafes and restaurants along The Parade.

Ellis Park, Park Party

Ellis Park, McLaren Vale

Take the kids to Ellis Park for free face painting; bouncy castle and every child will receive a prize while playing croquet and noughts and crosses. The grown ups can enjoy the atmosphere of the event with buskers and entertainment or take a stroll through the craft and culture market. The hungry will be satisfied with the Lions Club sausage sizzle and cool drink.

City of Onkaparinga Celebrations
10am - 7pm 
The Old Courthouse grounds, Willunga

The courthouse will have free children’s activities including story time, songs and puppets, a book hub and craft table, story writing and illustration workshop. Get the kids to bring along their bikes or scooters to race around the mini track. Take a break with a bite to eat and drink while listening to live swing and blues music performance from band Jump Daddys and watch cooking demonstration by Sylvia Hart. The kids can finish off the day with children’s cupcake and biscuit decorating, pony rides and performances from Jamae Raw School of Arts.

Sporting fans have the chance to rub shoulders with cycling royalty at next year’s Santos Tour Down Under with cycling great Eddy Merckx headlining the 2012 Legends’ Night Dinner.

Bupa mini tour for kids, presented by UniSA

Stage 6, Adelaide Street Circuit

Mini tour participants will ride along the start/finish straight of the Adelaide Street Circuit just a few hours before the world’s elite cyclists race the final stage of the Santos Tour Down Under. Kids this is your big chance to show off your cycling skills while being cheered on by the crowd lining the track.

Registration opens 8:30am for 10:00am start.
