Road Closures

The Santos Tour Down Under operates fully closed roads for the People's Choice Classic and Be Safe Be Seen MAC Stage 6 race circuits.

At all start and finish locations of the South Australian regional stages of the Santos Tour Down Under (Stages 1 to 5), the roads will be closed and detour signs will be in place.

A rolling road closure system will be in place for the remainder of the race routes on Stages 1 to 5. This means the police will temporarily close roads for up to 20 minutes to allow the race to pass by.

Once a road has been closed by the police, the riders usually take between 15 to 20 minutes to pass by. After the race convoy, the Green Light Vehicle and the final police escort have passed, the road will open again.

South Australia Police implement rolling road closures to ensure the safety of the riders and to minimise disruption to the public.

Some additional road restrictions and closures may be in place along the Bupa Stage 4 route to accommodate the official recreational ride.

Details on the road closures associated with the 2015 event will be available here in the coming months.
