The Adelaide Hills town of Lobethal has been crowned the 2012 Santos Tour Down Under Best Dressed Town.

Lobethal beat tough competition from the historic Fleurieu Peninsula town of Willunga, which came second in the competition, followed by Penwortham just south of Clare, which took out third place.

Lobethal won the Santos Best Dressed Town Competition award for Colemans Group Stage 2 on Wednesday, January 18, while Willunga received the same award for yesterday’s thrilling Jayco Stage 5, which finished on the top of Old Willunga Hill.

Penwortham received the award for their welcoming Stage 1 efforts on Tuesday, January 17.

“The Lobethal community really encompassed what the race was about, the coming together of  people from all nations in celebration of what is Australia’s biggest cycling event,” the Santos Judging Panel said.
