Sporting fans have the chance to rub shoulders with cycling royalty at next year’s Santos Tour Down Under with cycling great Eddy Merckx headlining the 2012 Legends’ Night Dinner.

The five-time Tour de France winner, considered as ‘the greatest and most successful cyclist of all time’, will be a special guest at the gala dinner, held on Saturday, 21 January, 2012, during the Santos Tour Down Under.

Cycling fans across the country have the chance to dine with Merckx and his Belgian compatriot, track and road all rounder, Patrick Sercu, at the dinner at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

Merckx, whose professional career spanned from 1965-1978, wore the yellow jersey for a record 96 days throughout his career and won every major Classic and one-day event in road cycling.
