Legends' Night Dinner
Ticket sales have now closed.
The Legends’ Night Dinner celebrates the best in cycling: the athletes who ride into the record books and the machines that take them over the line. Enjoy a three-course meal and fine wines as you hear stories direct from current and past cyclists – how they felt when on the verge of victory and what inspired their most memorable rides.
Peter Sagan, Paolo Bettini, Greg LeMond, Sir Chris Hoy, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault, Anna Meares and Cadel Evans are legends of their sport who have all been honoured at dinners gone by.
In 2018 the Legends’ Night Dinner will celebrate the 20 years of TDU legends, the climbers, the sprinters, the winners; it will be a night full of legends and stories: a night not to be missed.
It is time to take a step back in time to remember each victory as you hear from some of the past winners, who will talk about their tales of triumph and reflect on 20 years.
What’s more, sprint sensations Peter Sagan (three-time World Road Champion) and Andrei Greipel (two-time TDU winner) will be sure to entertain guests as they give you a fascinating insight into the life of a sprinter.
Thirteen of the 14 title winners will be at the Adelaide Convention Centre to be honoured and their victories celebrated. They include retired champions: Stuart O’Grady (1999 and 2001), Gilles Maignan (2000), Michael Rogers (2002), Patrick Jonker (2004), Martin Elmiger (2007) and Allan Davis (2009). Current riders to be honoured include: Luis Leon Sanchez (2005; Currently riding for Astana Pro Team), Simon Gerrans (2006, 2012, 2014 and 2016; Currently riding for BMC Racing Team), Andrei Greipel (2008 and 2010; currently riding for Lotto Soudal), Cameron Meyer (2011; currently riding with Mitchelton-Scott), Tom Jelte-Slagter (2013; Currently riding for Team Dimension Data), Rohan Dennis (2015; Currently riding for BMC Racing Team) and Richie Porte (2017; Currently riding for BMC Racing Team).
Each winner has their own special memory and moment about what it felt like to take the crown of Australia’s greatest cycling race. With hosts including Nine’s Tim Gilbert and voices of cycling Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen on stage, it’s a night you won’t want to miss.
