Williamstown awarded Santos Best Dressed Town
Williamstown has been crowned the best dressed town for BUPA Stage Four in the Santos Best Dressed Town competition.
The suburb draped different national flags along the street representing the variety of cultures competing in the Santos Tour Down Under.
Street posts decorated with different coloured ribbons and painted bikes also lined the race route.
The winner of the Santos best dressed commercial property for BUPA Stage Four was Linfield Road Wines in Williamstown.
The Linfield Wines coffee club hand made dolls dressed up in bike jerseys and placed them in the window to greet the cyclists as they passed through.
The standout creation by Linfield Wines was a vintage barrel bike complete with coloured framework and old wine barrels as wheels.
The Santos Best Dressed Town Competition has been a part of the Santos Tour Down Under since the first race in 1999. The competition gives South Australian suburbs, businesses and households a chance to be a part of the excitement during the Santos Festival of Cycling.
Stage winners of the Best Dressed Town competition will win prizes including framed and signed race jerseys, gift packs and garden products from Peats Soil and Garden Supplies.
Tomorrow’s race will see JAYCO Stage Five of the Santos Tour Down Under go from McLaren Vale to Old Willunga Hill.
